Car subwoofer problem

I had 2 12" kicker comp subwoofers and they sounded awesome with my pioneer deh-p2500 deck. Then I decided that I didn't want my whole trunk taken up anymore and bought a JL 12W3v3-4 sub and a MTX X500D amp. It doesn't even pound!! And the only way I can get it to is by having the bass for the cabin speakers up all the way and that makes it sound bad. So, I went to the place I bought the subs from and they said that if I would get a new deck with the adjustment for the subwoofer it would help me. I already dropped alot of money on the sub. Any ideas??

What gauge wire are you using for the amp? Is it grounded good? Connections correct?

A HU with subwoofer adjustments do help, trust me.

They set me up with a Raptor 1500 watt wiring kit. I had them and another audio place check the wiring and it was wired correct. Any other ideas??
