Help me identify what kind of car this is

Can anyone help me identify the below make and model of the gold car in the picture? It was involved in a hit and run accident. Mods - If you want me to black out the license plate, let me know. If you think the post is inappropriate, then I understand about removing it.

NP mobile, the tag's not readable. My first instinct was Saturn, based on what the emblem might be, but the body shape doesn't look Saturn-ish. Someone will probably ID it pretty easily.

It's a 2000-2003 Mercury Sable.

I agree - Mercury Sable. Probably the last body style before they quit making them - 1999-2003, maybe?

Ahhh, that's the Merc emblem. The rear view threw me; I always tow them from the front.

Thanks!

Thanks guys, especially you Mr. Dummas. You have no idea how much I appreciate this.

Pictured car tapped my wife's car. She's fine. Her car seems to be ok. Other party indicated they were gong to stop, then left in a hurry. Wife somehow had the presence of mind to snap the picture. My wife said Buick. When I saw the picture I thought either a Saturn (like you tow guy - emblem) or a Lincoln (shiny metal bar across back.) The taillight shape was different. I was looking at photos on yahoo autos trying to match taillights. Once you said Sable, I looked it up and boom!

Again, thanks. I don't know will come of it, but every bit helps.
