Question 2004 cav.not starting

I was just reading your post on the 1998 cav,not starting. I was wondering if my 2004's problem is similar. It's only happened twice in two weeks, but after extended cranking, car wouldn't start, jumped it with another car and it started. So my son thought it was a battery problem,I seemed to think it was more fuel related. Being so intermittent, would it be possible to detect if we took it into the shop? We didn't want to spend money on diagnostic just to find out they couldn't find anything. Any ideas you could give us would be appreciated, thanks.
P.S. We couldn't find sparkplugs or wires. Do these cars still have them or is it all electronics?

The sparkplugs are located in an impression down in the valve cover right ontop of the engine. There's a plate on top that you have to remove to get at them. No wires though.

Question continueing saga

the cav. wouldn't start this a.m.,so we tried a little starting fluid into the t.body and it would fire but not run long. After a few tries, I didn't want to overdo the starting fluid, I tapped on the fuel pressure regulator a couple times with a screwdriver handle, it started and he drove it to work. Coincidence or could it be sticking. Are these regulators repairable or should we just replace the $70.0 regulator. Thanks

Life is full of them things.

Either wait for the problem to do it again, (which is no fun if it leaves one stranded), or consider a lesser monetary loss if you can find one/and they'll sell it off the throttle body, at a junk yard.
