Transmission Troubles
Anyone had any troubles with 96 Taurus trans not shifting sometimes? Might go months between occurances, when it does falter most times it will only shift between first and second gear. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

"Taurus" and "transmission problem" kind of go together like "Phelps" and "Gold Medal".
The early 90's vintage Taurus trannies were absolute crap. Not sure if it was re-engineered by '96 or not. You've done a fluid and filter change?

update: Did a fluid and filter change, fluid was very dark, smelled burnt. Did not find a pile of metal in the pan. Trans. is shifting like new for now, we shall see if it lasts. Has any body heard of a problem in the electronics that caused these trannies not to shift?
