"Stop leak" AC refrigerant

I have a '99 Chevy Malibu that the ac didn't work on so I took it to the shop and had it recharged and it worked for about a month. Now it doesn't and I'm guessing theres a leak somewhere in the system. The compressor still works. I saw this ac refrigerant that says it has "Stop leak! Stops and prevents leaks" Something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/R134A...spagenameZWDVW

Does anyone have any experience using these "leak stoppers" and do they really work?

In a word.......NO....

While they may seal up your leak, in very short order , they will seal up your compressor vanes and condenser tubes, and then, block up the expansion tube.

The only way to do this is to find and fix the leak, the right way.

I agree!!! Use nothing but the correct refrigerant oil and pure refrigerant in an A/C system. The proper use of a leak detector that has been approved by the vehicle manufacturer is also approved.

As I recall, some A/C's have a little sock type filter, I forget the exact name. If that plugs up, you could have a major tear down.

Refrigerant. UV Dye. Nothing else in an AC system. Unless you don't want it to work, and want to have it where no mechanic will touch it.
