1998 cavalier leak

i have a 1998 cavalier which i have a leak of water and coolant, i have replaced the thermostat and the water pump i now have a sweet odor in my car what else may be the problem and how do i fix this.

If you're smelling it inside the car, good chance you have a leaking heater core; nasty job to replace. You can try bypassing it under the hood to see if there's any change.

Its probably just the old coolant that was spilled during replacment of the parts. The fresh air intake duct for the heater/ac is located on the outside under the passenger side windshield. The smell is probably just getting sucked in through there. I just replaced a valve cover gasket on one of these, the oil burning smell was getting sucked inside the car through this duct. Take the hose and rinse the area clean where any coolant could have spilled. Spray some cologne or something in the area of the fresh air intake to get rid of the smell. Now, if your floor is wet, then yes, I would say its a heater core taking a crap.
