Red Indicator on Battery Indicates what exactly?

A. good
B. bad
C. partially or completely discharged
D. more than one answer
E. other
The battery is a Motorcraft that is about 4 years old and its installed on a 2004 Ford F150. The truck has been a garage queen since 2004, and is used only about 1-2 times a month (driven 60 miles on each outing = 45 minutes of driving time). When parked in the garage, the battery is still connected to the truck with the alarm disarmed. I was just wondering as there are no instructions on the operations manual.
Thanks in advance.

Partially disharged, I believe. Anything other than green would indicate a problem of some kind. A four year old factory battery with infrequent use is a pretty good candidate for leaving you stranded with a dead battery sometime soon, especially with the non-green indicator. Get it up to full charge and have it checked at a decent garage; they'll put a load tester on it and see how close to death it is.

It means nothing on a motorcraft battery. I have seen new, fully charged batteries that test good but have the eye showing red. Just have the battery tested and proceed as needed.

the eye is actually a where a green float should be, if electrolyte is low or low on acid it will sink and show the red dot under it, so if the electrolyte for some reason is low in that cell it could show red and still not test bad yet, but it will fairly soon.
