2004 Ford Escape Wheel Bearing problem
Hi,
The front left wheel bearing on my 2004 Ford Escape is bad. Instructions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated or is this issue something for a mechanic?
Thank You.

the bearing has to be pressed out of the hub and a new one has to be pressed in that is something a machine shop would do for you but you have to take the hub off first.if you think that you could do such a job I will be happy to post the way to do it. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being easy 10difficult I would give it a 4. special tools may be needed.
good luck

it is kinda long. apply parking brake and jack up the truck and place it on jack stands. Remove tire, remove the brake caliper and caliper housing, remove brake rotor, Remove the axle bolt, remove the tie rod end nut and remove tie rod end.remove lower ball joint pinch nut and push lower control arm down so that ball joint stud comes out of the control arm.remove abs wheel sensor (if Equipped),remove the upper bolt on the spindle the holds the strut and knock the spindle down off the strut. The axle may not come out very easily so you will need a hub puller to push it out.to install reverse procedure.the axle nut torque value is 214ft.lbs.
good luck.
