97 voyager multi function switch

I have a 97 Plymouth voyager with the multifunction switch on the steering column that controls the turn signals, wipers and high beams. I took the switch out a while back as I need to get a new one as the old one broke. The switch is out of the vehicle right now as I didn't get a new one yet and I started the vehicle yesterday to run it for a while and the low beam headlights do not work via the dash switch. I am wondering if this multi function switch needs to be in place in order to complete the circuit to the headlights. Can anyone confirm this. Thanks

Probably the low beams are turned off when the high beams are activated. Without the switch, no low beams.

The lights are tied into the switch. No switch = no lights.

Need to get that switch soon as possible.
