saturn sc knocking noise as turn and brake
I have a 92 saturn sc and I have been hearing this dull knocking noise as I make a turn. I hear this same noise as a slowly brake the car or accelerate from a full stop. I have been told at first that it could be a ball joint, then told that the problem is the rack and pinion, but I do not have any trouble steering. Any idea what the problem is I do not want to get ripped off

Sounds like your constantly velocity (CV) joints are going out. They are basically universal joints but they are on the front axles because you have a front wheel vehicle. Try to narrow the noise down to one side or the other. Sometimes you will have a torn boot on the bad side. The torn boot lets the grease out and accelerates the wear.
