97 Ford Explorer
Hello.
My heating core went out and I was wondering if this was somthing easy to fix?
Also, my door on the driver side will not open today. I have not had any accidents or anything. When I try to open it the handle on the outside is flimsy like. Can I fix this myself or do I need to take it to a shop?

If it is equipped with a/c it will be necessary to take it to a shop to get the heater core done unless you have a a/c machine that you can recover the refrigerant and recharge the a/c with when you are done, also on these models the blend door in the heater box also breaks $$$$$$$.
the door handle might be broken or just may have come undone.removing the door panel is not that hard.
good luck

You can have a shop recover the refrigernt, go home and replace the heater core, then go back and have it recharged. Be warned, heater core replacement is NOT an entry level job, The dash has to almost come out of the vehicle to get the heater box out from under it, on the bright side it will be easier to fix a broken blend door if needed.

to change the blend door it just as much a job as the heater core. If the blend door in broken the complete heater/air control box has to be changed which is where the heater core is located,$$$$$$
