Transmission?

I have a 1992 chevy lumina, was driving and volts light came on, stalled but started again a few times, took car to auto zone tested alternator it was bad, had it replaced, drove fine for 2 days then volts light again PLUS NOT SHIFTING RIGHT, took it in again alternator not good...@ different shops told me this:" if alternator isnt sending the right volts to the brain box, brain box not telling car to shift???????????? " this is whats happening now replaced alternator again no volts light but not shifting right Could the 2 shops be right ??please help... Nothing wrong with transmission before this alternator problem.....

Yes, low voltage can affect shifting, but there should be no permanent problems.

What kind of shifting problems are you having?

not shifting at all car now runs fine with no volt light on,

Possible the vss (vehicle speed sensor)sensor could be bad, worth having it checked
