my wifes windstar's battery light just started intermittently coming on. it seems to come on more when I race the engine and then goes off. At idle the interior lights seem to dim and brighten a little. Could this be caused by a bad connection to the battery or a bad voltage regulator. Is the V.R. replaceable on this model or should I just replace the whole alternator. It has a white piece on the back of the alt. and I thought this might be an exterior v.r. but I've never replaced one,if that's the problem. Thank you.Beer 4U2

Yesterday I got my 88 merc sable back after having my transmission rebuilt and also the power steering pump and lines replaced . Since then I have a high pitched whine that changed in tone as the car goes up or down in speed. THe steering itself feels fine. The transmission was a little stiff at the changing points but have driven it 3 times now and that seems to be getting better. The whine is pretty noisy tho. I am taking it back today but would like my own knowledge of whether a transmission would make that kind of sound? I also have a leak of dexron near the front of the car that they will look at.
