Trailer hitch install

I have a '94 Mercury Villager and am wanting to install a trailer hitch. I looked at the pre-drilled holes in the frame and saw that the threads on the welded nuts are rusted out. The van has lived most of it's life in Michigan, so I should have expected that.

Is there any work around for this? Thanks!

Have you actually tried installing a bolt? Spray it down with some WD40 or some other rust remover. If the bolt aint going in, then you could have it removed and a new one welded on.
