Oil Light

2000 Mitubishi Eclipse 2.4ltr 110,000 miles. Just purchased. No issues during 2 test drives (which were 4 days apart), but after 5 days of owning, the oil light comes on. It does not come on when accelerating or at higher speeds. Mostly when the RPM drops below 1500 when warm, 1000 when cold. Oil pressure sending unit, or oil pump? I have a Haynes manual but can't find where the sending unit is located, or diagnostic tips.

Sounds more like the pump. The sending unit seems to be working as advertised by giving you the light when rpm's lower.

i would take out the sender and install an oil pressure gauge and see was the oil pressure is at idle. This will easily prove if the sender is bad or the pump is failing. Also what condition is the oil in, and engine

And do not drive the vehicle. If you continue to do so, you could cause some serious engine damage.
