04 Ford Windstar Minivan

driver side window intermittently will not roll up/down. What could it be? Ford dealer wants to charge $98 just to look at it! (does not include cost to fix it). Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Faulty switch or faulty motor. The intermittent nature of problems sometimes makes it difficult to troubleshoot them. For $98 at a dealership you would be getting about an hour of troubleshooting labor time. Have you inquired at a good independent?

Could be as simple as a loose or corroded plug. I agree...check with a few independents.

Independent? I'm sorry, would that be like a neighborhood mechanic?

Yep...local mechanic or a shop that specializes in auto electrical.

Good point by wrench; you might try wiggling the wire bundle in the door jamb between the hinges where it runs from the door to the frame. If you can make it work/not work that's where the problem could be.
