Fan not working, Monte Carlo 2000

Hi,

I went to drive my car this morning and when I tried to turn on the heater fan, it just did not go. Checked all fuses--All ok-inside and out--when I turn the knob 1,2,3--no noise but when I get to 4 to 5 I hear a clink or clung noise , only have 120k on the car but in the last couple of weeks I have heard some noise fron the fan motor--high pitched whine not loud though.
Any ideas how to proceed??
need the car to go away this weekend??

Sounds like your fan is toast and needs to be replaced. If it were the resistor pack, normally your fan would still work on the high position.

call advance auto should be able to get a fan motor for about 30 bucks on the passenger side of car under the dash their should be about 5 screws that hold up the plastis molding which contains the blower motor should be 3 screws that hold the actual motor in not hard to change just take your time dont remove anything you dont need too

Thanks guys.
I thought it was the fan motor but not blowing the fuse purplexed me. Why wouldn't it blow the fuse first or put a strain on the voltage meter gauge??

Hi,
Will the new fan motor come with the proper electrical connectors if I buy from a parts supplier, trying not to use a dealership!

Hi guys,
bought a new fan motor and blower. It did not work therefore does it mean it's the resistor and what would the proceedure be?
Can I bring back a fan and blower to the parts source?
Thx
Randy

Resistor pack is usually mounted on the fan housing. It will have a bunch wires going to it. Usually look like a small brick. No fuses there.

It's most likely going to be a dealer only part, and should be about $20-30

Part #: 89018643

Hi,
Is there a fuse(in the fuse box) for each speed on the fan or is that the job of the resistor?
Not quite sure where the resistor is still, there were a number of wires going over the fan motor and into a wire clip on the firewall?
What does a resistor resist?

Resistor for blower fan

Monte Carlo SS 2000--does anyone have a schematic for where it is located and what it looks like--is it a module or ?
If it's a module it is over $100 if not it's around $50, my owners manual does not specify?

Blower resistor 2000 Monte Carlo

Hi people,
Good news before new years. The parts place took back the blower and refunded my money.
Now I need to find out where the resistor is located under the dash, the book says to the right of the instrument panel?
Anyone know exactly what it looks like and where exactly it is located.
ThanksBeer 4U2

You should be able to remove the glove box, and see it in front of you mounted on the airbox.
