If you are just replacing the thermostat, you don't need to drain it. When you disconnect the thermostat housing, it will drain on it's own.... won't be that much.

Drain plug

The drain should be on the driver side bottom of rad, well hidden and very delicate. If you ruin it you pull the rad. You can do as Okie says or if you want to save coolant loosen lowe rad hose.
