MeGuiars car wax on windshild
I accidentally picked up the rag that I was using to wax the car and used it to clean the windshield.
What a mess. I have tried cleaning it with NAPA auto windshield cleaner and clear ammonia with little success. Took me an hour to clean the windshield and got some, but still smeary.
I may never wax the car again for fear of getting some wax on the glass.
Does GM really recommend Bon Ami?

Just call Barry McGuiar. The manufacturer can tell you how to remoce it.
I am sure you are not the first to do it.

try tooth paste with a buffing wheel and slow speed to clean the windshield, that is the recommended way to remove scratches on my cycle windshield.

I agree with Greg. Paint thinners do a good job of softening up wax. Be sure to fold/replace the rag frequently to avoid just smearing the wax around........... and don't forget to dispose of the rags properly.

Soap
I paint cars for a living, a little dish soap in water will remove wax.
I don't understand about getting wax on the windshield, before Rainx was around we waxed our windshields so water would bead up and roll off.
Try using a clean dry cloth it should be just like waxing your car.

Well guys, I thank you for your help. I have cleaned the inside and outside at least twenty times in the past two days. This Meguires wax must be something special.
I agree with Mike C and Jeff BC concerning their remedies. I always thought that a good wax and cleaner on the windshield was good for water run off, but fellas I have caught the ole boy trying to get this stuff off.
I unsuccessfully tried mineral spirits, vinegar, Joy dish washing soap clear ammonia and NAPA windshield cleaner. The more I scrubbed, the more smeary this stuff got.
Out of frustration, I went to the super market and bought a can of Bon Ami. Ureeka!!!! It got ninety five percent of it, but with lots of scrubbing. I think that this weekend, I will re-clean with with some more Bon Ami.
I wish now that I would have at least tried 97% rubbing alcohol. May try that this weekend for a final clean up.
This does not discourage me with MeGuires, but I bet I have learned a lesson that it is not for glass. Tom A great forum.

RE the Brillo...before anyone goes crazy...they can scratch unless you have some soap and water or something I think.
CRUD Now I can't remember whether I scratched mine with SOS pads or a Green Meanie...but I know I didn't have enuf water on the glass, whatever it was.
