94 nissan sentra heating and check engine light

I have a 94 nissan sentra, out of my fleet this is my baby
160g trouble free miles.
well her check engine light is on and it is OBD1, does anyone
know the paperclip trick to get the cel light to flash the codes.
i've searched google to no luck.

second question:
The heat or a/c only works on the 4 setting nothing 1 thru 3 until the 4th and it's full blast. any ideas what's wrong. i was going to swing by a junkyard and grab the heater controls.

thanks
bryan

Grab a blower resistor instead of the heater controls.

thanks but how do i get to the ecu is it in the center console
and which panels do i remove to get at.
i thought the paperclip was easier using the plug in the fuse box.
thanks

thanks again tow. i read the haynes manual and it tells me
the resistor can be found on the passenger side and i have to remove the panel and the glove box. do you agree with that or is there an easier way. should i bother testing the resistor or just replace.
thanks for the help

all of these questions can be answered in the manuel for your car. haynes or chilton manual should show you the paper clip trick and your ac/heater problems.

haynes does not address the paperclip just reading the ecu for the codes.

Resistor replacement needed

Hi,

Just stood on my head and replaced my resistor in my monte carlo--on the firewall behind the blower motor on the passenger side--4 screws and it was out but in Canada it cost 57 bucks but worth it to- Do it Yourself-!
