squeaking sound when I press on the gas

Hello, I have a 1997 ford taurus with automatic transmission. I am getting a squeaking sound when I press on the gas. It literally sounds like a mouse. It seems to happen only when it's in first gear. Any ideas?

most likely a slipping belt, try rubbing it with lava when the engine is off and then starting the engine see what happens, if the sound is gone time for a new belt.

life begins when the kids leave home and the dog dies.

What's lava? I assume you are not referring to molten earth.

Pretty sure he means the soap, not molten rock...
