Red face Broken axle on '96 Grand Caravan

Hey there, the front drivers side axle broke on our wonderful '96 grand Caravan...my husband is pretty good with cars, but he can't seem to get the rod off. He asked me to go online to see if I can find anything about that...so...here I am! Lol...We have the new part and he's ready to go, just cant get the old one off, any suggstions/tips would be so greatly appreciated!
Thanks

use a large pry bar to pop the old end from the transaxle, then the lower ball joint should be held in by a pinch bolt just remove it and use the large pry bar down to drop the lower control arm, then remove the nut from the end of the old axle, should be 36mm deep socket. a 2 lb hammer on the end after the nut is off should pop the remaining axle part out. it reinstall place the axle end into the transaxle first and then into the lower end of the strut/steering knuckle. don't use a impact wrench to tighten the axle nut it will damage the constant velocity joints use a torque wrench for the tightening.

life begins when the kids leave home and the dog dies
