Question about a 1995 Chevy 2500

Alright, my buddy is selling a truck and I'm interested in it and whenever you shut the truck off, you hear a clicking in the cab. He said something like it's an econ box or something but he couldn't really explain it to me. The truck is a 5 speed, 4 wheel drive with a 5.7l engine. Can anyone explain it to me?

well with no more info available I would go out on a limb and say probably relays controls for the evap canister or something like that.

if we're not supposed to eat animals why are they made out of meat?

Would that make that clicking in the cab whenever you shut the engine off?

He said it was normal and that if it didn't do that, it wasn't good. And I was wrong on the year, it's a 94 but shouldn't be any different.

That's not much to go on but the only thing I can think of is a stripped out HVAC door motor. Is it a fast clicking that lasts for 10-15 seconds? Those will usually make that noise when the key is turned on too.

That is exactly what it's doing. What do you mean by stripped? Is there a way to make it not click or atleast drown the sound out?

If you can locate the motor you can just unplug it. It might be a PITA to get to though?

What does an HVAC door motor do? Is it needed? Is it needed for the truck to run? Never heard of that motor before that's why I'm curious.

My guess is that it's for the recirculation door. That mixes the outside air vs cabin air. Is it needed, that depends on what position the door is stuck in. You could end up fogging up the inside windows.

Saying that it is the HVAC door motor, would replacing it be an option?

Yes, one of those could be it. You need to access one of them to unplug it and see if the noise is gone.
