My friend gave me his dad's hydraulic floor jack to fix. (His dad just passed recently) It's a SUPERLIFT 6000lb Hydraulic Service Lift model G493-LBW. The manufacturer? is listed as Shing Fu Company of America. The jack will not lift with pumping, BUT if someone is pulling the lifting arm while pumping it will lift up and will stay until I turn the handle to release the pressure. Does anyone know where I can get any repair parts to fix this? Is it an 'O' ring that needs replacing? Thanks!

Have you checked the level of hydraulic fluid? If it will hold itself up when someone lifts and you pump, then it doesn't appear to be leaking down. Try this: Get it up as high as it goes with some help, then take off the cap and add fluid. Then, with the cap still loose, slowly, Very slowly, release the handle and let the lift settle on it's own. It might get messy and push a lot of fluid back out, but it will also push out any air if trapped in there. When the lift settles all the way down, tighten the cap, and see if it will raise by pumping it. If this fixes it, still DO NOT TRUST THE JACK ALONE - -- THAT'S WHAT JACK STANDS ARE FOR - - USE THEM. I KNOW FROM WHENCE I TALK!! I LOST A TEENAGED NEIGHBOR AND FRIEND BECAUSE HE COULDN'T WAIT FOR ME TO GET HOME TO HELP HIM THAT NIGHT ON HIS CAR. I HAD MY JACK STANDS WITH ME, BUT BY THE TIME I GOT HOME, HE HAD ALEADY BEEN DECLARED DEAD, AT 17 YEARS OF AGE!!!
Good luck!

Hydraulic jack not lifting.
I know the hazards about not using jack stands. I lost a platoon sgt that way also. The jack will lift up by hand if I pump it at the same time. I have opened the fill hole and added oil, but have not drained out the oil. Strange, it worked one day and then the next day it stopped working. WHen I lift it up by hand while pumping, it will stay that way even under pressure until I turn the handle to release the pressure. Any other as to what might help? I will drian the oil out later this week and refill it. Thanks......
