2003 impala RDS radio unlock code

I was having a problem with the passlock system (who hasn't) and had to change the ignition switch. Didn't work. Changed the BCM, seems to be working fine so far. Never got any help from the dealer when the car went into the start when it wants to mode. Gm has known about this passlock problem since 1999 but refuses to recall.

As a result the radio is now locked out. Anyone know where to retrieve the codes to unlock it. The radio is RDS. Pretty stupid that if you remove the battery cable you have to reprogram the radio. Anti-theft my azz. Its a money grab by the dealer.
Thanks

As far as I know there is no work-around; has to be done with a scan tool.

My Mitsubishi has a radio code in the manual for the radio. It is a 4 digit number you put in to unlock the radio. It also tells how to put the code into the radio. I am not sure if Chevy does it this way or not but if you have the manual for the radio you might try looking at it. Could save a dealer visit.

The Tow guy is right, You need a GM Tech 2 scanner to unlock
Go to the dealer.

2003 impala

thanks for all your help guys. The dealer emailed me today and told me to bring the car in and they will unlock it for free. Good thing I didn't send the nasty email I had done up, lol.

Don't blame GM or the dealer. The reason the radio locked up was not because of the disconnected battery. It's from the new BCM you installed that apparently was not set up correctly.
