Friends truck

Friend has a Dodge ram with over 200k miles. Says it starts fine, idles fine but has no power on the road. Oil pressure light comes on at idle, but shop says the pressure is on the border line, somewhere around 8 - 10 psi at idle. Runs without noises and only leaks/burns a quart of oil every oil change.

My friend thinks the motor is worn out and is planing on putting $1800 in it for a rebuilt motor. I think that if the motor is still running it is some other issue. What other causes of no power are there?

would have the exhuast checked for a restriction by having a back pressure test done on the exhuast system.
and would have fuel pressure tested while driving the vehicle to see if its losing pressure.
the above 2 is probably the 2 most common reasons for no power.
ignition timing/ cam sensor timing if applicable depending on year could be retarded also causing no power may need a scan tool to have the cam sensor adjusted to specs.
