Chryler 300 16in wheel damage
I have a wheel that has been dented by a road hazard. It is a small dent on the outer rim and is not leaking, but if it were an old fashoned steel wheel, I would just hammer it back into place. I'm not sure that I can get away with that on this wheel though as it is an alloy. Is there a safe way to get the dent out of it?

risk involved
A alloy wheel will crack if bent back into shape. The good news is there are shops that have the equipment to do it for about 50 bucks.
You can try it at your own risk and maybe a crack will develop then you will need to get it welded.

Just a quick note,
In the unlikely event that you were lucky enough to "Hammer " it out, The wheel would never "Balance" properly again.
If it is not leaking , and doesnt Shimmy at speed...leave well enough alone, or have it professionally repaired.

Damaged Alloy Wheel
I am not surprised. I can afford to pay to have it done, but I would still like to know what the process is before I take it in.
Has anyone seen a wheel like this repaired? I've got a torch and a mig, and I'm not bad with either one of them.
Thank you for both replies!

Yes, had our wheel repaired when wifey hit a 4 x 4 on the freeway at 80mph coming back from LA one night. Not something you can really do yourself. They have presses and ovens and molds to put things back perfect.
Didn't see it, but was described to me on the phone. $90 including round trip FedEx shipping (small town here) to Phoenix..3 days door to door. Much better than $200 for a used wheel from a recycler and wayyy better than the $300 for new. Jeez how can OEM cost more than a new custom wheel?

Damaged Wheel
Does the outfit that did yours have a franchise, or were they an independent business? I'm in Ohio. This alloy wheel and small thin tire system is a recipe for disaster. I must have been nuts.

I think they were independent. I'll try and find the invoice and see. You should be able to find someone in Cleveland or maybe Columbus.
Will try to find the info tomorrow.

WML..the place I used was AZ True Wheel. This is the site...you should have similar around you. Home Page
Might be more cost if yours are plated alloy.
