Ball joint repair- 1994 Ford Explorer 4 x 4
I need to replace ball joints on the driver side of my 94 explorer. If anyone can give me instructions for replacing upper and lower I'd appreciate it!

Autozone.com...short registration..and lots of info for your vehicle.
The site has been redone..so even if you were registered, you may have to again.

Is the sway bar supposed to move around a decent amount? My main mechanic said my driver side ball joints needed replacing. When the wheel was mounted you could actually shake it and when I drive I can feel jiggling. He wont pass inspection because of this. But when we removed my wheel at home the ball joints look good. So now we're stumped?

Well, can't speak to yours...but on my SUV the sway bar doesn't move or wiggle at all. It has tension on it just sitting in the drive. And you shouldn't have any movement of the wheel.
If he says they're bad and won't pass..then I guess you'll need to replace them. Why try to second guess a Pro.
Those were pretty popular vehicles...should be able to find a repair manual for $15 or so. Check the library as well, most stock the big Chiltons manuals for reference.
