factory amp in 95 dodge intrepid

factory amp in 95 dodge intrepid
i tryed to hook up a stereo in the car, did not come with a radio, and i get nothing, except the power, would that amp stop the speaker wires from working, if so how do i get power to the amp?

Could very well be a propriety connection between a factory radio and factory amp. My wife's '01 Camry is like that; came with premium sound system & JBL speakers. When I upgraded the radio I had to effectively bypass the factory amp becasue there was no way to power it up from the aftermarket stereo, although there are adapter kits to do the job.

Look closely at the doors....Do they say "INFINITY" on the speaker grilles?????
I believ it is under your dash, but there is what is called a "NAME BRAND SPEAKER RELAY"...There is actually no "AMP" in the vehicle, but rather the speakers themselves are Amplified by a Circuit board on each of the speakers.
Post back with the info I asked.......It is likely you will be able to used the "POWER ANTENNA" feed from your new stereo to bridge the gap to the relay.... If not, there are ways to bypass the electronics at the speakers.....

ok, i got something to come out of the little speakers on the dash, there are 3 of them, one in each front doors and 2 in the back window, if i can get noise out of (sounds like tweeters) on the dash i should be able to get something out of the others?
need tunes, boring going to work and i cant sing a note : )

Have you tried to access the radio or speakers at all? - to do the ohms test, or even inspect speakers visually? And someone suggested running new wire I think, beween radsio and speakers in question, at least temporarily, to test with. Otherwise it's just a bunch of guessing as to where the trouble lies.
