2000 Taurus

Had an overheating problem last week. Noticed that the dual cooling fans were not operating. Bought a scanner and it said"coolant temp sensor high input". Bought a new one, installed, same problem. With the engine running and gauge towards H, each fan connector has 14 volts. I just pulled each fan an gave them 12 volts direct from another battery. Two bad fans?????

If you wired them direct properly to a good 12volt source & they didn't work, there isn't anything else I can see except 2 bad fans. Tried reversing polarity?
