Exclamation 89 chevy camaro fuel pump trouble

89 camaro 2.8L RS Multiport Injection. Installed a new fuelpump, started the car and it ran for about 5 minutes then suddenly shut off. I turned the key on and did not hear the pump kick on. I went to a haynes manuel and it said to connect power to the ALDL, I did that and the pump came on and the gauge read 40PSI. When I turned the key on again pump still did not kick on and no pressure and car would still not start. I have plenty of gas, checked all fuses and relays I dont know what else it is, fuel is not getting to the spark plugs, i am getting spark and it starts up a few seconds with starting fluid. please help what is the problem??
Please help I am sooo stuck!!

Could be a pump relay that's heating up = bypass relay to test. Or it could be the pressure regulator. Are you sure the pump isn't running?

When you got the 40 psi, did that pressure disappear before you could start the car = fuel pressure regulator. Possibly the pump didn't need replacing, but the regulator did.
