black smoke

son has a 94 mx3 v6 that has black smoke coming out of tailpipe along with a black oil like fluid but to thin to be oil .Any ideas?

Black smoke normally is un-burned fuel. Blue is oil leakage out of the exhaut, And white is normally a water leakage problem. to me I will need your carb and vin #s to properly diagnose

Agree with monkey; sounds like it's running extremely rich. The liquid coming out the tailpipe I'm guessing is a combination of soot, unburned fuel, and maybe some water. Fuel-injected, so no carb to repair/adjust. Probably going to need to get it on a scanner and see what's causing it to run so rich. One possibility is a bad O2 sensor. Test procedure here along with other info on your vehicle:
