anti lock brakes
I have a 2000 Ford explorer 4X4. When the vehicle slows down to a stop the brake pedal grunts and groans and the brakes do not seem good. The anti lock brake light does not come on. When i pull the 50 amp fuse for the anti lock brakes, the anti lock light comes on but the vehicle stops fine. I have changed the front two wheel sensors.

Look carefully at the front drive axles.....
The "Tone Rings" have a habit of splitting, leaving a huge "Gap" between the teeth, which makes for an erratic speed signal......
Hence the ABS system is doing its job...Manipulating pedal pressure to correct for a wheel speed that it sees as incorrect.
