2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Intermittent Wiper Problem

I have a 2000 JGC that has in intermittent wiper problem. The low and hi speeds work fine. When I put it at any intermittent speed, the wipers will move, stop, move, stop, etc. Also when I turn the wiper off (from hi, low, intermittent), they will not automatically return to the bottom of the windshield. I have to "time" it when I turn it off.

Any ideas?

Worked fine for 9-1/2 years now - just started experiencing the problem. I'm sure its normal wear-n-tear...

ok, maybe check the wiring diagrams. possible that the wires have a bad ground that might be corroded. im not that great on electrical work but just check for obvious things around
