Radiator/Coolant Replacement
I'm planning a DIY project to replace a radiator on a '98 Ford Escort. From the owners manual I can find the coolant capacity for the car.
Question is this: Is the full coolant capacity stored in the radiator when the engine is cold?
Once I install the new radiator and fill with coolant am I done?
Or, do I need to warm the engine, allow coolant to flow through the system, wait for the engine and radiator to cool down, then check the coolant level again?

once you have installed the radiator, fill it with the recommended coolant mixture. Leave the radiator cap off.
Then turn your heater on full hot, start the engine, when it reaches running temp. the thermostat will open and you will see the coolant level in the radiator go down thus filling the engine block and the heater core. Refill with coolant accordingly and all should be well.
Good luck and have a great day
