Do rod bearings come in bigger sizes for bored connecting rods?

I think an oversize connecting rod bearing is a bearing which has a smaller inside diameter to compensate for a crank shaft journal which has been ground

Is an undersize connecting rod bearing a bearing which has a greater outside diameter to make up the difference for a rebored connecting rod?

Unless youre doing Custom engine building, there is no reason to Bore a Con-Rod.... If it is "Worn" too large, it gets replaced.

Having said that..... You are correct.....oversized is typically a thicker Bearing, to make the inner diameter smaller.

But.... What you propose for Undersized, while it is correct , it is only available for Customized applications......You cant just order an "Undersized bearing"....

Conn Rod

The usual way this is done is to have the conn rods reconditioned. They face off the cap then rebore the hole round. This will only work up to a point. If you want a good job replace the rods. Like unc said you can have custom inserts made but the rod probably wont be round if you have spun a brg. as I suspect.

Agreed, but.....

The "Big end" is rebored after the cap and rod are faced, which returns the rod to original "Diameter". This only makes up for Minor imperfections, and is in no way meant to "FIX" a Damaged Rod..(Although I have seen "Cheesier" things done)

This procedure is basically intended to Improve upon a "Useable" connecting rod.

conn rods

Thats why I said 'this only works up to a point" like other things in life you can't bring the sides in to fit.
