'90 Chevy G20 hard time starting

Alright, we have a '90 model G20 fullsize van with a 350, 125k original miles. Recently it started having trouble to start. Sometimes you can go up and it'll start just fine while other times it struggles to get the power to start turning everything. We've changed the starter which didn't solve anything. What else should we look into/change?

test the battery, check/replace the battery cables, make sure the ground cable is clean and tight on the engine block.

Did you simply forget to post to us anything about the battery? I'm curious why you went right to the starter without saying anything about the battery, connections, etc. - as already mentioned by wt ??

Batteries can start doing weird things when on their way out, or if they have some sort of internal short. Or alternator belt loose, or alternator problem, or bad motor-to-battery ground, or bad igniton switch, or bad relay or solenoid, or loose connections anywhere in that circuit.

there the other thing it do happend to the GM car and truck { espcally with truck and van pay attetion to this }

Did you check the heat sheild above the starter motor if missing that can cause the issue with heat soak and make it harder to turn over.

*Now the other thing is the ingtion switch sometime they can go bad over the time and by the way the oringal wire is little weak if the case add a relay so that way you have good power source to the actaual starter soilind to get it turn over better.

I ran into like that from time to time and the GM did issue the TSB sometime back quite few years back I don't recall what date it was but it was on the TSB mainfest listing.

Merci,Marc

* the soluation to this issue is getting heveier conductor or add relay one of the two will slove the hard starting issue but IMO the ingtion switch is most likely curpit.
