2001 Honda Civic A/C problem

A/C works fine until the temperature outside reaches the mid 90's, then the compressor stops cooling. Sometimes it will come back on again for a few minutes, but it doesn't stay on. As soon as the weather cools down to below mid-90's it works fine again. My mechanic is stumped.

Sounds like an intermittent engine fan problem if the condensor isn't getting enough air flow through it, it would cause that problem possibly you have debries (bugs dirt bent fins) restricting air through it also. Try hoseing out the condenser first and see if that improves it. Then check out the engine fan.
