1998 Ranger bag gas mileage

4 cyl and a stick

I just had it tuned up with new wires, plugs and 2 new ignition coils. The fuel filter is new and the air filter has been taken out while I diagnose the problem. Tires are good. It runs as smoothly as it did when it was new.

It seems to idle high sometimes which makes me believe the choke is stuck and I don't know how to access it.

If I use choke cleaner will it harm the catalytic converter? And speaking of that the converter has a leak as it is making a 'putting' noise. This engine has 2 oxygen sensors so one of them is in front and one is behind the converter.

The check engine light is on.

Thanks!!

Chuck

Have you had the codes read for the CEL? Autozone and others will do it for free....that would be the best start.
