4wd indicator light blinking
I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 3.0ltr with 63k miles. The 4wd indicator light flashes. It just stared one day. 4wd was not engaged. I tried putting the truck in 4wd, backing up, etc. and the light will not stop blinking.
any ideas thanks...

It did't work.
Will this blinking light cause any damage. I don't plan on fixing this for a while if at all. is this just a notification light or does it do something...

Blinking lamp
Do you have an owners manual or perhaps have the ability to look at one on the web? The manual will indicate the functions covered by the lamp. I have an older Montero and the light goes on and off by itself, it's intended to tell me when the transfer case in engaged in 4wd and nothing more so I don't worry about it. It's just a goofed up switch. Your car being newer most likely has some electronics involved and could serve more than one purpose. Reading the manual could shed some light on the subject.

Thanks. the reason the light goes on is to inform the driver that 4wd is engaged. however this light will just blink. 4wd is not engaged at the time. if i put the truck in 4wd the light will stay on steady which it is suppose to do and 4wd does work.
there is possibly a bad solenoid. i think there are 2 of them. cost over $100.00 each.
just want to know if any damage is being done or if replacement is necessary...

Honestly I couldn't answer your question being positive that no damage will occur. The switch that actually turns the lamp on could be at fault but a diagnosis would be required to 100 percent accurate.
