2000 Dodge Ram overheating and not blowing hot air
my 2000 dodge ram is overheating very quickly and is not blowing hot air when I turn on the heater. I put new coolant in the radiator and that didn't work. So now I am lost. Is it the thermostat or could one of my friends be right and I have to replace the heater core? Also, is there suppose to be a hole in the side of my radiator. Please help.

Sounds like it could be a stat. Were you low on coolant? That would cause you to overheat and not have heat. What do you mean should there be a hole in the side of the radiator?

holes in rads are always bad...mattison is correct, if it's low on coolant, it'll overheat and won't blow hot air. if the heater core was bad it would either leak, in which case you would smell it inside the cab...or be stopped up which wouldn't cause overheating. i think your friend(s) is/are wrong. has the engine been severely overheated? does it steam a huge cloud out of the tailpipe? replace the stat and repair the leak if you have one and then reevaluate.
