Help with idle air control valve adjustment on 1995 Ford Contour
My son just bought a 1995 Ford Contour that needed an idle air control valve. While replacing it, the wire broke that attached to the throttle body. He went down and got another one at the salvage yard and got that installed. Now he can't seem to get the rpm's adjusted correctly. It revs up to 6000 rpm's and won't go down. Does anyone have any suggestions I could give him?
Thanks!
Thanks!

??? Why did it need a IAC in the first place???
Did anyone adjust the "HARD STOP" to compensate for a bad valve????
Did you accidentally "Cross " the wires to the IAC????
NEVER ALLOW AN ENGINE TO REV AWAY AT START UP....it lacks oil pressure on initial start, and will make short work of "Blowing apart"....
Try this...remove the valve.....Cover the two holes with thumb and forefinger...If the car still revs away....look else where....
With the holes blocked ...The car should NOT start....or barely run if it does start.....
