Hard Starting
1989 buick century, 3.3 engine. It takes 7 to 10 seconds for the car to start. No trouble codes, no other problems. Other than this, it runs just fine. Have replaced the MAF last year. Since this problem started, I changed the IAC valve and the car sarted just fine the first time. After that the long start time came back. Any ideas? Thanks.

The car would have an electronic gas pump / sending unit.
When is the last time the fuel filter was changed? If it's slightly blocked, this starting issue could occur.
A faulty gas cap can cause a vacuum issue - but a eng. light should come on for this.
Check you spark plugs - how old, gap etc....

Hard Start
Fuel filter is about 6 mo old. Spark plugs ok. I watch the fuel pressure on the guage at the engine while I'm cranking and it hardly goes down. Funny, you disconnect the IAC, reconnect it and the car starts just fine for that time. Couple hours later, and it's back to the hard start again. Like I said, I'm missing something simple, but don't know what.

That's odd?
Try disconnecting the battery for 2 hours. Old ECM's can have old codes cleared this way. As well as the rest of the data not needed.
fuel injectors dirty?
I like Lucas fuel additive myself.
