Car not starting even with boost battery

Chevy Lumina APV 94 120 000 Miles

I left the car parked for a week then it would not start. The battery was at 0 Volt. (zero light, zero radio, nothing)
I got another car (actually 2 different ones) to boost it. Pushed the foot down on the battery-car (to get >3000 RPM), but old car won't start.
It makes a weak sound as it wants to start (not the sound of a dead battery). The starter turns just a bit then nothing... as if a week person tries to make an effort, like pushing a car...
The boost cable gets hot.

I need this car for another 800 miles before letting it go!

Any suggestion?

Thank

Need to get a new battery in it; yours is a goner and is impeding the effort to jump start.

Yep...a boost with jumper cables is just that, a boost...it won't normally start a completely dead battery in a car. Also, your battery could be internally shorted which will really cut the amount of juice actually getting to the starter and such, and will never let it build even a partial charge.

They are sometimes called "booster" cables...never starting cables.

Worked

Thanks The_Tow_Guy

Learning that a dead battery would prevent starting, I connected my booster cable from this car to another one and just let the latter's engine idle for 20 minutes. Then I hit the starter. Bingo!

I will try it again today and most likely will get a new battery.

Thanks
