Question Oil Filter Cap

I own a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am with a 2.2L 4-cylinder engine. The oil filter area is built into the engine block and to access the filter I need to remove a cap that has a hex 6-point bolt-type shape on top of the cap. Does anyone know what size metric 6 point socket is required for the cap removal? I attempted to estimate and believe it is somewhere between 32mm to 34 mm. Would like to get the exact size if anyone knows of it. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!

Isn't there a square hole in the oil filter socket to accept a 3/8" drive ratchet or extension?

Hello marksr, thanks for the response. No, there is not a square opening to accept a 3/8" drive ratchet or extension.
