Oil hand pump-any good

Is it OK to use a OIL EXTRACTOR HAND PUMP to change the oil or is it better to drain the oil through the plug.I was always told the oil should be warm to change and draining would get all the garbage in the very bottom.

I would say if the oil filter is under the car so that you have to raise and crawl under there anyway, might as well drain it from the plug. If the filter is accessable from the top of the engine, you might as well use the sucker. That's how Mercedes does it. The few ounces of old oil left shouldn't make any difference.
