2001 crv headlight metal clip

2001 crv headlight metal clip
i have a 2001 crv. i am attempting to replace the headlight (driver's side). the last thing i need to do is replace the metal clip (that holds the bulb in place). i can't get it back in place.
what gives??

It is easier to do with the lamp assby. removed so you can see it clearly,but the spring clip only goes in one way and "clocking" (the position that it hooks) If you don't have the lamp removed try that and things should go easier for you
unfortunely you do have to remove the front bumper cover to access the headlight bolts and there are 4 plugs including the one for the headlight. Sorry I wasn't more helpful on the good news side.
