Oil Light and Wrench

'06 Chev Equinox 32,000 miles 3.4L V6

This cars oil warning light and wrench stays on for aprox 50 seconds after each startup then goes out.

Is this normal?....it just started doing it cold or fully warmed up.
Outside temp is in the 20's.
Bought it used last week from Chev dealer

I'd check the oil level and run the codes. The wrench is a service engine light, and may be normal, although 50 seconds is a long time.

I checked the oil level and it's good.

If the wrench goes out on its own, is it recorded in the memory when the codes are run?

Sometimes they do. However if it is self correcting, it may not. It should show up if it matters enough to cause problems.

Mystery Solved!!!!

For all of the GM owners out there......When the wrench and oil lamp comes on and goes off about a minute later it means it's time for maintenence!

I used the RTBM method of troubleshooting.

RTBM (Read The Bloody Manunal)

To reset Maintenance counter......turn ignition key to RUN position, depress the gas pedal all the down 3 times and turn the key off again.

Oh, say it ain't so......you read the manual? You may be banned, so watch out. Shame on you. Good info, though.
