01' Blazer HVAC issue.

01' Chevy Blazer

Problem just started that air will not blow out of the vents for your feet. If you put the selector switch for your feet or defrost/feet it only blows out of the defrost vents. Works just fine blowing out of the dash vents though when selected.

Any ideas?

These have electric actuators which can go bad.

The actuators move baffles back and forth and this directs air one place or another.

To replace these would require the proper procedures which would be in a factory service manual set (order from dealer or helminc.com). They need to be "synchronized" and installed using certain procedures.

Also the factory manuals would have troubleshooting instructions for testing this with a multimeter. You would then be able to verify what the exact problem was.

You can also try a computer "reboot"...

Remove a battery terminal for 10 minutes, then reconnect.
Turn ignition switch to on, but don't start.
Wait 1 minute.

DO NOT touch any buttons in the vehicle during this minute.
Then start vehicle and let idle for 5 minutes.
Drive above 45 mph as soon as possible.

This "reboots" all the computers in the vehicle including the A/C which then "resynchronizes" the actuator doors during the power-up.

This also reboots the engine computer and the idle and driving above 45 mph helps it to "regain" its operating memory.
