Question cv joint bad, need help to know if

I can change it myself. 01 Dodge Dakota 4x4 crew cab. Left front cv joint is loose and just wondering if it would be an easy repair for me or a repair for a garage to do? Can I tighten it up or need to replace with new one?

CV joints need replacing, but not a 10 minute job for sure. Most common practice, is if going to replace one, other one probably won't be too far behind it. A lot of mechanics don't even play with them anymore, due to labor to replace each, plus parts, makes it more feasible to just buy a complete rebuilt shaft assy, and just replace the shaft. Parts price higher, but labor is less, so it usually works out close to same, and a whole lot less aggravation.

ditto most of the time money and agrevation ahead to just replace both with either new or reman depending on cost of the parts. should be able to just disconnect the bottom ball joint and pry out the knuckle after removing the nut from the cv joint.
